MHA Declares Mushtaq Ahmed Zargar Aka Mushtaq Latram As Terrorist
The Ministry of Home Affairs on Wednesday declared Mushtaq Ahmed Zargar aka Mushtaq Latram as terrorist under Unlawful Activities Prevention Act, 1967. Mushtaq , the chief commander of militant outfit Al-Umar Mujahideen was one of the three militants released by the Indian government in exchange for hostages aboard the hijacked IC-814 flight in 1999.

Mushtaq, aged 52 years and who hails from Nowhatta area of Downtown Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir, is the founder and chief commander of Al- Umar-Mujahideen which is already listed as a terrorist organisation under UAPA.
The MHA notification banning Mushtaq Zargar said he had been affiliated with Jammu-Kashmir Liberation Front, the outfit headed by incarcenerated separatist leader Yasin Malik, and had gone to Pakistan for obtaining illegal arms and ammunition training.
It added that he has been running an incessant campaign from Pakistan to fuel terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir.
