Eid ul Fitr  To Be Celebrated across Pakistan tomorrow i.e on 13 May (Thursday ) . Kashmir, therefore is also going to observe Eid ul Fitr on 13 May 2021, Thursday. (Official Confirmation Awaited)

As per the latest news and credible sources, Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has hinted / announced chances of seeing the new moon of Shawwal 1442 AH on the evening of May 12 i.e. 29th of Ramadan (Wednesday) are highly unlikely.

As per the latest news update from Pakistan, the Eid-ul-Fitr (1st Shawwal) will most likely commence from Friday, 14th May.

The PMD , in a statement announced that the new moon of Shawwal, 1442 AH will be visible on crossing conjunction point at 00-01 PST on 12 May, 2021 (Wednesday).


When astronomical parameters are followed, there are zero chances of new moon of Shawwal, 1442 AH being sighted on the evening of Wednesday 12 May i.e. 29th of Ramadan, 1442 AH.


Furthermore , the weather is expected to be fair or partly cloudy in most parts of the country on the evening of May 12, according to the climate record.

Jammu Kashmir Eid ul Fitr 2021 Date | Probable Day Announced

The crescent of Shawwal, the 10th month of the Islamic lunar calendar, will most likely to be sighted on Thursday evening, the May 13.Thus the Eid-ul-Fitr will fall on Friday (May 14).

Therefore, it simply means that the Eid (Kashmir Eid ul fitr 2021 Date) in Jammu and Kashmir will be celebrated most likely on Friday, 14th May 2021.

The interior ministry of Pakistan has announced Eidul Fitr holidays from May 10 to 15.

The notification for the Eid holidays was issued based on the recommendations of the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) and with the approval of Prime Minister Imran Khan, according to a spokesperson for the ministry.

The Covid-19 standard operating procedures for Eid will likely be issued.

This year’s Eid ul Fitr in Kashmir valley is no different from previous years’ , when it’s much more prone to restrictions owing to rising number of Covid-19 cases as the region struggles to contain a second wave of coronavirus infections, when more  cases and deaths declared and only a fraction of the population having got vaccinated as of now.


The government  has announced a strict lockdown strategy since last week to May 10 to controll the movement of people. The lockdown is likely to be imposed during the Eid ul Fitr holidays, which otherwise witnessed mass movement of people between cities and villages .

There is a ban on mass gatherings of people in public parks or at markets. All tourist resorts, formal and informal picnic spots, public parks, shopping malls, hotels and restaurants at picnic places are likely to remain closed during Eid holidays.


As per latest news, Jammu and Kashmir has seen record deaths in recent days from the coronavirus, prompting stricter restrictions on movement and gathering in public ahead of Eid.

Officials are worried about the health care system of Jammu and Kashmir which is already under strain and could reach a threshold point if more contagious variants of the virus begin to spread, as has happened in other states of India.


The government in Jammu and Kashmir has even though also closed  land crossings with neighbouring states for travellers o slashed international flights , that has caused huge influx of non local labourers in Kashmir valley.


On Wednesday, authorities reported as many as 4700 new confirmed Covid-19 cases in the past 24 hours and 50 plus deaths from the disease,
